How to use escribir in the present
Escribir is regular in the present: escribo, escribes, escribe, escribimos, escriben. Te escribo para... is the standard way to open an email (I'm writing to...). Use the present for habits (escribe una columna semanal) and for spelling questions with se: ¿cómo se escribe su apellido? For something in progress at this moment, the progressive estoy escribiendo is also very common.
