How to use comprender in the present
Comprender is regular in the present: comprendo, comprendes, comprende, comprendemos, comprenden. Comprendo is a polite, empathetic way to say 'I understand' in customer service and formal conversations: comprendo su situación. It also means 'to include' when talking about packages, programs or periods: el plan comprende tres etapas. In casual speech, entiendo is more common. There is no stem change in any form.
