How to use dormir in the imperfect
The imperfect is regular, with no stem change: dormía, dormías, dormía, dormíamos, dormían. Use it for sleep habits in the past and for background: Dormía cuando sonó el teléfono. It also describes past periods of bad sleep, which is common in medical history and in stories about stressful times. Remember there is no stem change at all in this tense.
