How to use parecer in the present

The present of parecer is regular except for yo: parezco. Most often it is used like gustar, with the opinion holder as an indirect object: "Me parece bien," "¿Qué te parece?" With a noun or adjective it means "to seem": "Parece cansado." "Parece que va a llover" means "it looks like it's going to rain." This is the main way to give a soft opinion in Spanish.

Examples

  • Parece que va a llover.

It looks like it's going to rain.

  • Me parece una idea excelente.

I think it's an excellent idea.

  • Parezco más joven en esta foto.

I look younger in this photo.
