How to use servir in the imperfect
The imperfect is regular, with no stem change: servía, servías, servíamos, servían. It describes past usefulness (ese mapa ya no servía) and habitual serving (mi abuela siempre servía la comida a las dos). It also covers ongoing service in a role over a period of time, such as in the army or a public office. Every form carries a written accent on the í.
