How to use valer in the present
In the present, only the yo form is irregular (valgo), and you will rarely need it. The workhorse forms are vale and valen: ¿Cuánto vale?, Estos zapatos valen 80 dólares. Vale la pena means it's worth it, and más vale means it's better to. In Spain, vale on its own means okay, while in Latin America it is less common. No vale can also mean that doesn't count, as in a game.
