How to use leer in the conditional

The conditional is regular: leería, leerías, leeríamos, leerían. Use it for advice (yo leería el contrato con calma), for hypotheticals (si tuviera tiempo, leería más) and for polite requests: ¿leerías mi currículum? It is also common in reported promises: dijo que lo leería. Like the future, it keeps the full infinitive leer- before the endings. There is no y in this tense.

Examples

  • Si tuviera más tiempo, leería más novelas.

If I had more time, I'd read more novels.

  • ¿Leerías mi currículum antes de que lo mande?

Would you read my résumé before I send it?

  • Dijo que leería la propuesta el fin de semana.

He said he'd read the proposal over the weekend.
