How to use levantar in the conditional

The conditional is regular: levantaría, levantarías, levantaría, levantaríamos, levantarían. Use it for advice (Yo no levantaría eso solo) and hypotheticals. In reported speech, it tells what someone said they would do: Dijo que se levantaría temprano. It is also useful in safety talk, where it softens a warning about lifting heavy things.

Examples

  • Yo no levantaría esa caja sin ayuda.

I wouldn't lift that box without help.

  • Me dijo que se levantaría temprano, pero se quedó dormido.

He told me he'd get up early, but he overslept.

  • Un aumento de sueldo le levantaría la moral al equipo.
