How to use ocurrir in the conditional

The conditional (ocurriría, ocurrirían) is regular. Use it to imagine consequences (¿qué ocurriría si...?), especially in planning and risk discussions at work, and to report earlier predictions: dijeron que no ocurriría nada. With pronouns, it describes what someone would never think of doing: a nadie se le ocurriría salir con esta lluvia. In reports and meetings it is a natural way to explore what-if scenarios without sounding alarmist.

Examples

  • ¿Qué ocurriría si el proveedor no entregara a tiempo?

What would happen if the supplier didn't deliver on time?

  • A nadie se le ocurriría salir con esta tormenta.

Nobody would think of going out in this storm.

  • Los expertos dijeron que no ocurriría otra crisis tan pronto.

The experts said another crisis wouldn't happen so soon.
