How to use pagar in the present
The present is regular: pago, pagas, paga, pagamos, pagan. Use it for routines (Pago el alquiler el día 1) and for decisions in the moment, especially in restaurants and shops: ¿Cuánto pago? Hoy pago yo, I'll get it today, is the standard way to offer to pay. In questions, the present often works as a request for instructions: ¿Dónde pago?

En esta empresa pagan bien, pero se trabaja mucho.
