How to use perder in the present
In the present, perder has the e→ie change in four forms: pierdo, pierdes, pierde, pierden, while perdemos keeps the e. Use it for habits and general truths (siempre pierdo el paraguas) and, in the reflexive, for getting lost or missing out: si no vienes, te lo pierdes. In sports talk, the present is common for results and predictions: si pierden hoy, quedan fuera.
