How to use venir in the imperfect
The imperfect of venir is regular: venía, venías, venía, veníamos, venían. Use it for repeated past visits ("Venía a vernos los domingos") and for background: "Venía manejando cuando me llamaste." "Venía a decirte..." is a natural way to start a message you came to deliver. The only extra accent falls on veníamos. Note there is no stem change in this tense.
