How to use comenzar in the conditional
The conditional is regular: comenzaría, comenzarías, comenzaríamos, comenzarían. Use it for advice (yo comenzaría por lo más fácil), hypothetical plans and reported speech: dijeron que la obra comenzaría en mayo. It also softens suggestions about how to organize work, which makes it useful in meetings. As in the future, there is no ie and no c, so the forms are easy to build from the infinitive. Yo comenzaría por... is one of the most practical ways to give advice in Spanish, whether about a project, a diet or a language course.
Examples
Yo comenzaría por revisar los números del último trimestre.
I'd start by going over last quarter's numbers.
Nos dijeron que la obra comenzaría en mayo.
They told us construction would start in May.
Si tuviera el dinero, comenzaría mi propio negocio.
If I had the money, I'd start my own business.
